We have recently upgraded the input procedures so that you can directly paste a sequence into this box without having to edit it to fit the idiosyncracies of the Vienna format.
The only requirement now is that you just paste the sequence section of your information into the box. The text is filtered for nucleic acid sequence letters: Aa, Cc, Gg, Tt or Uu and that is all. You may submit letters from your grandmother, novels, etc., but expect that the output will be highly abbreviated account that is in accords with what this program is designed to do.
Please be aware of the fact that the input processing does not know the difference between a formatted file in Fasta style, GenBank style, Vienna package style, or any other style for that matter. It simply reads the text that comes in. So do not include any comment regions of these files in your input if you don't want to see anything strange or unexpected appearing in your calculated sequence.
Example of acceptable input sequence formats:
Allowed Vienna formats:
Garbled-up GCG-style formats:
and so forth.
Please note also that, whereas we have tried to make this easier to use for most types of situations, we cannot guarantee that every possible strange format will pass this thing. You should enter sequence and only sequence if you want best results. Other things may be amusing, but are not recommended for testing this program's intelligence. Expect that it has none, and appreciate the fact that you are human and have been blessed with this gift we call ``thinking''.
